September 14, 2026 Regular BOE Meeting Minutes
A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Creighton Community School District No. 13 was held on September
14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the High School Library.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publication in the Knox County News, as shown by the Affidavit
of Publication attached to the minutes. Notice was also posted at the City Offices, front door of the high school, and
front door of the elementary school.
The notice of the meeting was simultaneously sent to all the members and a copy of their acknowledgment and receipt
of notice and agenda is attached to these minutes. The availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance
notice as was the notice to the members of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the
convened meeting was opened to the attendance of the public. The agenda for the meeting is attached and
incorporated into these minutes.
President Kuhlman called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. He announced that the Open Meeting Laws Act Poster was
displayed on the wall at the entrance.
Members present: Greg Kuhlman, Dixie Hanefeldt, Erik Burns, and Amy Borgmann. Hanefeldt moved to excuse
Roskeland and Key. Seconded by Borgmann.
Others Present: Superintendent Weber, Principal Nilson, Principal LaDeaux, and Secretary Hoffman
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Borgmann moved to move the agenda. Seconded by Burns. RCV: 4-0. Roskeland and Key absent. Motion Carried.
There was no public comment.
Reports:
A. Superintendent Weber shared that all safety drills have been completed and the safety audit is scheduled. The
school census is down two from last year. The shop class has been constructing several projects around the
school.
B. Elementary Principal LaDeaux explained that assessments are wrapping up so that interventions can begin in the
elementary. Grandparents’ day was well attended.
C. Principal Nilson stated that MAPS testing has begun and that formal teacher evaluations are starting.
D. There was no president’s report.
E. There were no committee reports.
F. McDowell thank you's were read from Ben Johnson and Conner Rohrer.
The consent agenda consisted of the monthly financial reports, bills, August minutes, and approval sale of district items,
and approve the Creighton Teacher’s Association as the recognized collective bargaining agent for 2028-2029.
Borgmann moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Hanefeldt. RCV: 4-0. Roskeland and Key excused.
Motion Carried.
Discussion/Action Items:
A. Superintendent Weber shared a couple of quotes for buses. Since we can no longer use our 11 passenger vans,
we are in need of another bus to help transport students. The bus will be used to replace one of the route buses
and the old route bus will be kept for backup. Hanefeldt moved to approve the quote from National Bus Sales
for $49,900 using depreciation funds. Seconded by Burns. RCV: 4-0. Roskeland and Key excused. Motion
Carried.
B. Burns moved to approve Roskeland and Key to attend the Labor Relations and State Education Conferences.
Seconded by Hanefeldt. RCV: 4-0. Roskeland and Key excused. Motion Carried.
C. The October board meeting will be at 7:00 on October 12 th .
At 12:27 p.m., Borgmann moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Hanefeldt. RCV: 4-0. Roskeland and Key
excused. Motion Carried. The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Monday, October 12 2026
at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library.
