Creighton Football Advances to Quarterfinal Round
The Bulldog Football team took another step in the right direction Wednesday night as they traveled to Plainview for a second round play-off game, and ended up beating the Pirates 58-0.
Plainview came out of the gates playing tough early, but the Bulldog defense shut them down. Creighton's first score was with less than a minute left in the first quarter, when Brady Nelson made a great catch of a pass from Brayden Zimmerer from 25 yards out.
Derek Wortman scored two of his five touchdowns in the second quarter. His first was a 20 yard TD run, with Noah Lilly catching the EP pass from Brayden Zimmerer, and then he had a 79 yard run, and ran in the extra points for a 22-0 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs took the 2nd half kick-off and scored in just a few plays as Derek ran for a 25 yard TD. Later Brayden finished out the third quarter scoring with a 6 yard run. Bulldogs led 34-0.
In the 4th quarter, Brayden scored another TD on a 5 yard run, Derek ran in the EPs. Then Derek scored on a 41 yard run and ran in the EPs for a 50-0 lead, Derek then added the final TD with a 55 yard run, and Thad Hazen caught the EP pass from Brayden.
Creighton will host East Butler in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Game time will be at 4:00.
