Creighton Track Team Qualifies Four..
...for the State Track Meet
May 09, 2008
District
track was held in Battle Creek May 8th. It was a moderately
cool day for the athletes. For some, the cold weather is a
factor in their performances. A few of the athletes say they
do better in hot weather than in cold. So many variables can
affect their performance. We are delighted in having four
make it to the state meet!
The girls got things rolling in the morning when Alyssa Kruse high
jumped 5-1 earning her a 1st place finish and qualifying her for
state. Jessica Ripp had a long jump of 16 feet 9 inches,
placing her 1st and qualifying her for the state meet with Alyssa.
Later in the day, Derek Dohmen earned a 1st in the boys 200 m
dash with a time of 23 seconds... and a 2nd in the 100 m dash with
a time of 11.3. Our final state qualifier was Brieanne Todd
who ran the 300 hurdles in a time of 48.5 ....she placed 1st.
Katie DeMuth came in 4th in the 800 and Brieanne Todd came in
4th in the Pole Vault.
The girls 4x100 placed 4th. Alyssa placed 4th in the 200 m.
Jessica placed 5th in the 100 m.
