Bulldogs End a Good Football Season

November 08, 2017

It wasn't how they wanted the season to end but the Bulldog Football team still gave a great effort and never quit. Pre-season #1 rated East Butler came to town and defeated the Bulldogs 40-28. The Tigers had lost 2 games earlier in the season but have been coming on strong lately. They will have a chance to avenge one loss, a close one to Howells-Dodge in the season opener, in the semifinals on Monday.

East Butler had one of the better QBs we have seen in a while, with the ability to to pass or run the ball himself. They also had the best front line we have seen this year. We could not get our running game going against them, and held a hard time getting off of their blocks.

-Creighton initiated the scoring with a 2 yd run by Derek Wortman and the 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter had considerable more scoring.

-East Butler took the lead with a 39 yd pass and an EP pass to lead 8-6. They followed that up with a 2 yd TD run and an EP pass to increase their lead to 16-6.

-Creighton came back with another 2 yd TD run, missed the EP again, and trailed 16-12.

-The Tigers came back with a 62 yd TD pass followed by an EP pass for a 24-12 lead.

-Derek ran in his 3rd TD, this time for one yard, and we passed for the EPs, Brayden Zimmerer to Brady Nelson, that cut the lead to 24-20.

-The 3rd quarter had only one score, East Butler's 3 yd pass, followed by the EPs for the 32.

-In the 4th quarter, Derek finished his scoring with a 1 yd TD- with the and scored the EPs, cutting the score down to 28-32

- Creighton turned the ball over on downs inside their 10, and East Butler ground out their final score, a one yd TD pass, then completed the EP pass for the final 40-18 score.

Congratulations to the Bulldog Football Team on a great season!
