Creighton Season Opener was a BIG HIT
by Kyle Berglund
The Creighton Bulldogs Played their first 8 man game ever last Friday. It was a great game. There was a big crowd that came and supported the bulldogs. The bulldogs played very well against Clearwater/Orchard that are used to playing 8 man football.
The beginning of the game the bulldogs came out and wanted to show everyone that they came out to play. The bulldogs scored on a nice 4 yard run by Ryan Mitteis. Derek Tyler scored the extra point. That put the bulldogs up 8 to 0. Later in the first quarter Ryan Mitteis threw a nice 12 yard pass to Brennan Becker to score another touchdown. Cole Thomas scored the 2 point conversion to put the bulldogs up 16 to 0. The bulldogs were looking very good in their 8 man debut.
Then in the 2nd quarter Clearwater/Orchard scored to put the score 16 to 8 but that was the last time they scored. The bulldogs looked tired and didn't score the rest of the quarter. The second half the bulldogs came back out and looked liked they had something to prove. Derek Tyler had a very nice 30 yard to get the bulldogs all fired up. The bulldogs later scored from a nice 1yard run buy Derek Tyler. Derek also scored the 2 point conversion.
The bulldogs were now leading 24 to 8 in the third quarter. It was the 4th and final quarter and the bulldogs put up another TD to seal the game. Ryan Mitteis threw a nice 7 yard pass to Holden The Ogre Wetzler. Collin Neumann was the one to score the 2 point conversion. That put the bulldogs up 34 to 8.
The bulldog defensive did its job and held the Cyclones to 8 points and under 200 yards. The most exciting play of the night was probably when Russell The Rusty Volquardsen recovered a forced fumble and scored which pretty much ended the game putting the bulldogs up 40 to 8. The bulldogs did very well for their first 8 man game buy putting up 295 total yard and scoring 40 points. The referees awarded Holden the Ogre Wetzler the Sportsmanship t-shirt. Next week Come support the Bulldogs as the Go to the Wolf Den as they take on the Elgin/Elgin Pope John Wolfpack.
