During the week of October 5th, homecoming was held at CHS Junior/Senior High School. The week was full of dressing up, sporting events, decorating, and much more.
Thursday we had the crowning of the King and Queen at the 2009 Coronation ceremony. The candidates for King and Queen were Cody Ketelson, Landon Pospisil, Klay Fuchtman, Bryan Dartman, Alyssa Kruse, Nikki Boyle, Brandi Sorensen, and Jordan Wagner.
The ceremony began with a welcome from Anne Brogie and Nick York. A processional of all the candidates, attendants, and crown bearers followed. Haley Zimmerer then beautifully sang "Over the Rainbow." We then had the introduction of the attendants, candidates, crown bearers, and the 2008 Royalty, Brittany Borgmann and Garrett Hanefeldt.
As we awaited the lights coming back on, they had all of the senior volleyball, cross country, and football players come down and give a short speech.
Anne and Nick then announced the 2009 King, Queen, and Runner-up King and Queen. The Royalty for 2009 were Runners-up, Cody Ketelsen and Nikki Boyle and King and Queen, Alyssa Kruse and Landon Pospisil. Congratulations!
Anne and Nick made some closing remarks before everyone departed for the parade. Some announcements were that pictures were to be taken immediately following the ceremony, the parade would start at 3:00pm, a pep rally would follow the parade at the grocery store parking lot, a dance for Jr. and Sr. high students would be in the gym on Friday from 9:30pm to 12:30am, and to go support the football and cross country teams Friday.
Altogether, the 2009 homecoming week was a huge success for all.
